The gospel: the gospel for the waiting soul!

I am not sure how long this post may go, but with great love and compassion do I write for whoever reads this gospel. If anyone knows about the times we are in, they would know well that they are perilous. We are living in a Christian world full of churches, pastors, and people, but with awful sadness, many Christians are not even saved; they have not become born again, and on top of that, Christians have been damaged by doctrinal knowledge and harmful beliefs.

I write to you, my dear Christian who has come to realize they are not saved, who are not born again. I write to you, precious Christian or follower of Christ, wanting His salvation, who has now become aware that salvation is by grace alone and by a faith given by God, and there is nothing you can do to be saved. Perhaps you have been waiting to get born again for months, years, and maybe even decades, but it has not happened.

You know you are not born again, so you feel as if the ground beneath you is shaking, and that one of these days hell itself will swallow you up. No matter how long you wait, you feel as if it will never happen. But, this would not be a gospel if it contains no good news.

You see, I am here to tell you, even though there’s nothing you can do to be saved, well, I am here to tell you there’s something you can do.

What?! Evan, you teach and preach that salvation is not of our free will, but God’s will! Ah, yes, my excellent pupil, I am glad you have been taught well. But allow me to explain. Even though God has given you free will and even though that free will is fallen, it is nevertheless still involved in your salvation. For example, when God caused me to realize something was wrong with me and to examine my salvation, He led me to Pastor Pam, where I could reflect on His truth.

So, what did I do? Yes, I used my hands, I used my brain, and I read and listened to what she had to say. I humbled myself that everything I had ever believed was wrong. Those are things that I did. Not only that, Pastor Pam famously told me when I confessed I was not saved, “You need the gospel.”

I did not say to myself, “Oh, there’s nothing I can do, God will save me.” No, I had put my feet on the pedals of my bike, used my body to move the bike, and got home to hear the gospel. Now, it may seem as if I am saying that my efforts are what granted my salvation, but let me also show you this:

Of all the ministers I could find on the internet, I found the one who was truly born again and could minister the gospel.

I was deep into the occult and had unusual demonic torment that caused me to seek her out.

And how do I go back to why I got into the occult? This choice, and that choice. We would have to start from birth.

You see, God’s sovereignty pushed me here, took me a little from there, placed me here and there, allowed this to happen, all while graciously never touching my free will! And then, here I am with my free will, hearing the truth of the gospel, and then, in an instant, it just happened, by His will!

Now, some of you will say, “Well, I watched those videos too, and I didn’t get born again.” Yes, but that is not God’s fault.

God is never to be blamed for why anyone is not born again. But neither is the unsaved person fully. You see, what causes you to become born again is the gospel. What is the gospel? In simplicity, the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ. If anyone is not born again, it means they simply do not understand an aspect of the cross or resurrection in a personal way. There are numerous, in fact, many reasons why a soul does not understand an aspect of the cross and resurrection and struggles to do so. But this is why you are here and reading this post, so you can truly know Jesus Christ personally, despite hindrances.

Let me share with you the will of God revealed:

“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all…” (1 Timothy 2:3-6).

“And He (Jesus Christ) is the atonement for our sins and not for ours only, but also for the whole world” (1 John 2:2).

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish…” (John 3:16)

“For I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live” (Ezekiel 33:11).

“Not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).

Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).

God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are all in agreement: They want to save you. If you want to be saved and be born again, then you are indeed being drawn to the wells of salvation, whatever your motivations are. My motivations were originally deliverance when I came to Pam, but little did I know what would happen only a few hours after our phone call.

See, the reason you are not born again is because you exalt hell. You exalt the devil. You exalt predestination. You exalt election. You exalt eternal torment. You exalt reprobation. You exalt the never. You exalt your sin. You exalt everything but the cross of Jesus Christ and Him raised from the dead, and you wonder why you are not born again! (With a soft smile, I write).

My precious soul! You are wrestling with God, like Jacob. Everything under the sun points to a God who is lovingly, powerfully, trying to rescue the brokenhearted, the confused, the lost, the vulnerable, the abused, the tormented, the afflicted, the sick, the sinner, the wicked, the… you…

So this is what you can do in the meantime while you wait to be born again in Christ.

Forget everything you think you know. Forget your past. Forget time. Forget unbelief. Forget condemnation. Forget doctrine—detox from religion (including your own religion!). Vomit toxic beliefs about yourself. Vomit the destructive future you envision for yourself. And then, gently, embrace the Lord Jesus and His love for you. Embrace the wonderful plans God has for you. As I pedaled my bike with my free will to listen to the gospel, take your “pedals” and gently embrace a gospel that is for every creature. Embrace that you are a creature, a human, eligible for salvation. Embrace the fact that you have found born-again Christians who love to minister to you. These are all things you can do.

Shall I say more?

Be the prodigal son, be what you are, a sinner, a tired, burdened, overwhelmed sinner. Come to the Father of a love that has no beginning or end and let Him clothe you with a robe, adorn your finger with a ring, strap your feet with shoes, hug you, and kiss you. Let the Father take you back to His home, where a party awaits you, where a fattened calf is prepared. What you can do is gently let His grace touch you.

Could I say even more?

Come to a real cross where it does not matter if you are elected or not. Yes! A powerful cross where everyone was loved, even you! Come to the only cross where it does not matter if you are chosen or not. Leave behind rejection! Come to a divine cross, to a God, to Jesus Christ, who left no one out of His nailed hands, whose love is incomprehensible and is as expansive as the outer walls of the universe. Jesus Christ in pain and all agony—whose blood was shed for you, blood that, weighed down by gravity, flowed to the surface of this earth—the earth where our bodies came from, a holy blood that still speaks forgiveness and mercy on your unbelieving behalf. What you can do is gently embrace a sacrifice that was made for you, that you were not excluded, that God flipped the world upside down and around to save you.

Am I writing so that you get born again right now? Of course! This is why I am here, you are here, and what God is doing! What He wills for you! To no longer wait! He wants to have you now. But He understands things have delayed you. He knows you don’t trust Him, and His heart is broken by it, too.

This is all for you. So, until you get born again, until that blessed moment happens, there remains the gospel. Good news every day of your life! Whether you get born again now or some other day, every day of your life, there is a God who loves you and desires to save you, and if you have gotten this far, will save you. A Creator and a man who feels you more than anyone (even me!). A Christ who has given us Himself—this is good news every breath we take, every heartbeat we have, there is hope! A gospel of hope! A gospel for the soul who waits!
